Oct 13, 2021 · This 2017 vintage Port is made for Waitrose by Quinta da la Rosa, a small estate in the heart of the Douro. It was a dry, hot year, but a cooler spell during harvest helped this wine retain freshness alongside the hedonistic plummy fruit flavours and spicy, fruit cake notes.
The Port is still young with richness and a light structure that is still developing. It will fill out and ripen as its ages and smooths. All the elements are there for a very fine wine. Drink from 2025. — Roger Voss.

Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family. The Quinta and its vineyards were given to the Bergqvist family as a Christening present by the Feuerheerds, who established the property in 1906.
A tall, chilled glass of white Port and tonic will convey you magically to the bucolic Quinta de la Rosa’s sun-drenched, riparian terraces in no time. Rich and rounded, the slight sweetness works well (try adding chopped mint rather than orange or lemon) and is wonderfully refreshing.
This is an elegant, floral Vintage Port. With its succulent black fruits and rich tannins, the wine shows plenty of spice from the spirit that's well integrated into the firm, ageworthy structure. This is a fine wine that needs plenty of aging. Drink from 2029.
