The White Birch is a slowcore/post-rock band from Oslo, Norway. Formed in 1996 by Ola Fløttum (vocals, guitar), Ulf Rogde (bass), Hans Christian Almendingen (drums) and Frode Løes Arnesen (keyboards, samples). Ola Fløttum had his first commission as a composer for film in 2003, a career which racketed when he in 2006 started his collaboration with Danish/Norwegian Joachim Trier. Their partnership has resulted in movies such as Oslo 31.august (2011), presented at Un Certain Regard at the Cannes film festival and Louder Than Bombs (2015), nominated for the Palme d ́Or at the Cannes film festival.
