  4. Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit that enables a believer in Christ to speak in an unknown language directly to God. It is a language that no one can understand except God alone (1 Corinthians 14:2). Therefore the Bible says that when we speak in tongues we speak mysteries directly to God.
