Apr 6, 2013 · I'm a big Nordstrand fan, and I'm not paid to say that. I've had pretty much every pickup they make, in some bass, at some point. There are 3 flavors of Nordstrand P pickup. the Vintage (as discussed) the NP4a, which are the angled pole ones, which I like a lot, but not more than the P Blades.
Mar 17, 2004 · I don't see anything on Nordstrand's website, but Ibanez says: "Nordstrand™ "Big Break" pickups cram a meaty split coil into a soapbar-style pickup, producing a full-bodied, powerful, aggressive tonal texture, while still retaining the clarity that's characteristic of single coil tone with noiseless performance."
Apr 16, 2018 · The np4a is quite unique in that it takes the angled pole pieces that Nordstrand is so well known for and puts it in a classic style pickup. The np4a is a 4-string hum-canceling split coil pickup with two pole pieces for each string and is available with either alnico III V magnets.

May 18, 2020 · I tried the StarLifter with a range of instruments, including 5-string passive P and J basses, an active Sadowsky 5-string, and my custom active 6 string, and with each bass, I was able to easily dial up fantastic tones that complemented the instruments’ inherent voicings.
