Nimbus Film was established in 1993 by producers Birgitte Hald og Bo Ehrhardt. Since the beginning the company has handled popular quality films, often in close cooperation with the directors. Nimbus was behind two of the original four Dogme 95 films: Thomas Vinterberg's "The Celebration" (1998) and Søren Kragh-Jakobsen's "Mifune" (1999).
