When MacDowell was eight, her father remarried, this time to the former Mary Frances Stone; this union lasted until his death. MacDowell graduated from Gaffney High School in 1976, [9] then went on to attend Winthrop University for two years before moving briefly to Columbia, South Carolina.
He remained hospitalized at the City of Hope until his death from complications from acute leukemia on September 14, 2021. [ 114 ] [ 115 ] His remains were later cremated. [ 117 ] He was survived by his older brother, Neil ; his younger brother, Leslie; his son, Dylan; and his mother, Ferne.

Nick Duncombe (21 January 1982 – 14 February 2003) was an English rugby union footballer who played for Harlequins and England. Earmarked as a promising youngster since his time in the England youth teams, Duncombe was the England senior team's youngest debutant scrum-half at the time of his debut and won two international caps before his death at age 21.
