She was his only daughter, and was surrounded by affection and attention. Grant was openly demonstrative with Nellie and showed her a quiet consideration that was conspicuous.
She lived in England until her divorce in 1893 when she then moved back to the United States and lived with her mother, Julia Grant, until Mrs. Grant’s death on December 14, 1902. On July 4, 1912 she married Frank Hatch Jones, first Assistant Postmaster under President Cleveland, and lived in Chicago.
