- Sshi-bal 씨발. I’m sure some of you already know this one by heart! After all, it is arguably one of the most common Korean curse words in South Korea! Simply put, the word means “f*ck” and while it may SOUND cute to some of us, to native speakers, this is actually an extremely rude expression.
- Gae-sae-kki 개새끼. Another combination of Korean curse words that we sometimes hear is gae-sae-kki which means “son of a b*tch”. Again, whether or not you commonly hear this phrase depends on the age rating of the K-drama in question.
- Mi-chin nom(nyeon) 미친 놈(년) This phrase is most often used in adult-rated K-dramas or movies. That should already tell you how rude or derogatory this term can be.
- Ggeo-jyeo 꺼져. This is one of the most common Korean curse words in K-dramas. In fact, I’ve even seen some of the Running Man members use this phrase on occasion!

Aigoo / 아이구: Geez, oh no, oops Can be used in many different contexts, but usually it’s used to show frustration.
Jin-jja? / 진짜?: Really? Usually said when in a state of surprise or shock. Can be used as a question or statement.
Sseom / 썸: Flirting The very early stages of dating; when you’re not exclusive. You might know that you like each other, but are not boyfriend/girlfriend yet!
chi-maek / 치맥: fried chicken + beer This combo has been around in Korean culture forever, but it was made popular because of Jun Ji Hyun!
dak-sal / 닭살: cringe-worthy or gross It’s usually used when someone says or does something and you’re seriously cringing.

- 전하 / 마마 [jeon-ha / ma-ma] Your Majesty / Royal Highness. These phrases are used to address the royals. When you watch Korean historical dramas, you'll often hear people addressing the king as “전하” (“jeonha”) and the Queen as “대비마마” (“daebi-mama”).
- 왕비 / 대비 [wang-bi / dae-bi] Queen / Queen Dowager. “왕비” (“Wangbi”) denotes a current wife of the king, whereas “대비” (“Daebi”) is a Queen Dowager, the wife of a deceased king.
- 왕세자 [wang-se-ja] Crown Prince. The Crown Prince is the oldest son of the king who will someday ascend the throne. He is called “원자” (“Wonja”) before he officially takes up the title of “왕세자” (“Wangseja”).
