Murray Grindlay. New Zealand musician and producer, who first got his start in the sixties with the legendary Underdogs. He has written and produced hits for others and himself in the decades since, including a Top Ten single in Australasia as Monte Video.
Among his favourites were the two ‘travelling on’ adverts for the Europa oil company that he starred and sang in alongside legendary musician Midge Marsden and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1988. Eventually, he was able to segway his experience into New Zealand cinema.
Murray Grindlay first rose to prominence as the lead singer of somewhat rebellious 60s blues band The Underdogs. Since then he has written music for movies Sleeping Dogs, Once Were Warriors and Broken English, as well as hundreds of TV commercials, including the classics Dear John and the Great Crunchie Train Robbery.
