Murder Drones is an Australian-American computer-animated science, fiction, horror, and comedy web series created by American animator and show-runner Liam Vickers, produced by Glitch Productions, and funded by Screen Australia for GLITCH. It is the third animated series created by Glitch Productions, after Meta Runner and Sunset Paradise, which are all available on their Youtube channel.
The series was teased on June 25th, 2021, and announced on October 8th, along with the release of a trailer. The Pilot premiered on October 29th, 2021. After the second episode released, the following episodes were set to release every 2-3 months, according to the Season 1 trailer.
A heart-warming story of “destroy all humans.” Uzi, a sardonic teen helper robot gone rogue befriends N, an excitable optimistic Murder Drone sent to destroy her, creating what we can assume is a very bad relationship for mankind.
Main Protagonists
•Uzi Doorman (voiced by Elsie Lovelock) is the main protagonist of the series. She is a teenage rebellious Worker Drone who works to learn about Humanity •N (voiced by Michael Kovach) is the deuteragonist of the series. He is a male Murder Drone who befriends Uzi and tries his best to prevent himself from being useless. •V (voiced by Nola Klop) is a female sadistic and impulsive Murder Drone who soon reveals to have more than meets the eye.
Main Antagonists
•Doll (voiced by Emma Breezy), a pivotal character that has a connection to the AbsoluteSolver, using it to her advantage. •Cyn (voiced by Allanah Fitzgerald) is one of the maid drones in Elliott Manor and physical embodiment and AI of the AbsoluteSolver. •The AbsoluteSolver (voiced by Allanah Fitzgerald) is the overarching antagonist, a mysterious program with unknown motives which appears to grant drones the power to break the laws of physics and manipulate matter.
Supporting characters
•J (voiced by Shara Kirby) is a Murder Drone described as a "lethal workaholic". •Tessa (voiced by Daisy Rose) is a human who may be the last of her species after the AbsoluteSolver destroyed earth. •Khan (voiced by David J. Dixon) is Uzi's father, a door obsessed robot described as a "man with a plan". •James Elliott (voiced by David J.G. Doyle) is Tessa's father and a posthumous overarching character.
Liam Vickers had previously achieved notoriety for his 2D animated series CliffSide and Internecion Cube, both of which are unfinished.
On August 6th, 2021, Liam released the full version of "Disassembly Required", the song that plays in the teaser. The video description reveals the character seen in the teaser to be "V", one of the titular Murder Drones.
By the time the series was announced, it had been worked on for one year.
On February 18th, 2022, Glitch Productions announced the full series is in development now at the studio, with a glimpse of Uzi in a new, unknown location.
