Dec 9, 2012 · Mother of Mine, Finnish WWII movie (2005) During World War II no less than 70,000 Finnish war children were evacuated to neutral Sweden and, to a lesser degree, Denmark. Most of them lived in private homes and when the war was over around 15,000 stayed with their new families.
Finland goes to war and 9 year-old Eero's father is sent to the front. Even though his father promises him that the war will soon be over, things are never the same again. Shortly after the start of the war, sad tidings come from the front that make Eero's mother, Kirsti, break down completely.
