Home to over 2,000 works of postwar and contemporary art, it’s not just an impressive collection but also an architectural marvel.
In 1923 the Alexander Cowie Galleries had their inception in the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Mr. Cowie began by exhibiting contemporary American, 18th-century English and 19th-century French paintings and sculpture. Occasional works by such figures as Mary Cassatt, Camille Pissarro and Renoir were not well received.
