People who were following NJPW at the time really wanted ROH to give us a Okada vs AJ Styles rematch, and the 3 way was a solid compromise (despite the fact that I could never stand Elgin). They initially announced Okada vs Cedric Alexander which people weren't so enthused about because Cedric Alexander was not a top guy at the time.
