Memrise used to be amazing, just indispensable in my language learning journey- so much so I happily paid to be able to access community courses and support the app grow. Unfortunately in the last couple of years the company started systematically dismantling everything that made Memrise stand out and shine in the midst of a plethora of generic language learning apps.

Memrise betrays paying members regularly. Memrise has changed their interface several times for the worse, violating the terms of when a person subscribed. For example, they eliminated the Mems (user created graphics to memorize words). This was a basic fundamental feature of their app!

I started using it in 2016 and have seen it evolve from a flashcard-based learning tool to the best language learning app on Android. In this Memrise review, I will share my experience of using the app for over two years and learning four languages.
