Mr. and Mrs. Archer ask Dexter to find a party date for Corliss' rather homely friend Doris. Despite his best efforts, Dexter can't find anyone willing to take her to the party, and winds up doing the deed himself.
Corliss Archer is a lovable blonde teenager who is delicately balancing her high-school life and relationship with her goofy boyfriend Dexter Franklin, and her homelife with parents Harry and Janet Archer.

Synopsis 2: Harry has a bad cold. The well-meaning but bumbling Dexter tries to help out by going to the drug store for Harry's medicine. While there, a misunderstanding leads the druggist and neighbors to believe that the Archer family is destitute. As a result, lots of food baskets mysteriously begin to appear at the Archer's front door.
