- Moderate consumption of red meat and avoid processed meat. Processed meats, such as bacon, sausage, hot dogs, ham and deli meats, increase the risk of colon cancer.
- Reduce saturated fat. Saturated fats are fats that are solid at room temperature. They are found in butter; lard; fat-containing milk, yogurt and cheese; and meats, and they should be consumed in moderation.
