Is Matlock Bath the same place as Matlock? No it isn't! Matlock Bath, where the Illuminations take place, is a village on the A6 road approximately two miles south of the larger town of Matlock. Both locations have large car parks and are separate train stations on the Derwent Valley Line.

Jul 9, 2024 · Our Matlock Bath Illuminations return for a seven-week season from 7 September. One of the region’s top autumn events will run every Saturday and Sunday until 27 October – 127 years since the Illuminations were first staged to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.
Travel to Matlock Bath by train, show your train ticket at the Derwent Gardens entrance and SAVE £1.50 on the admission price to the Illuminations on the night so long as the event hasn't already sold out.

David, from Ashbourne, created the pick of this year’s fantastic fleet – ‘Let’s Have A Cuppa’ based on a teacups fairground ride.

30 facts about Matlock Bath Illuminations. The event was first held in 1897 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was her recollections of an earlier visit to Matlock Bath as the then Princess Victoria which inspired the Illuminations.
