A bodyfat scan scans ALL bodyfat, to include visceral fat. Visceral fat cannot be observed through a shirtless photo, and people can appear of similar bodyfat levels without a shirt on while possessing very different bodyfat percentages due to varying levels of visceral fat.
Females typically see fat funneling into their hips and thigh areas – but some women do see noticeable amounts of fat in their stomachs at even low body fat percentages. Male Body Fat Percentage: 5% – 9%. This body fat percentage is not sustainable for most men.

Whether you look skinny or ripped at 8% body fat is dependent on you having enough muscle mass. These guys have been training for years, so they can get to this level of leanness and get the ‘fitness model’ look. The lower back fat is mostly gone at this point.

You can see that even at 14% body fat, if you have enough muscle, a blurry six-pack will show. You might want to get a little leaner than this before bulking, though, so that you can bulk for long enoughto put on enough muscle without feeling too fat and needing to cut again.
At the 15–17% body fat level, I suggest most clients continue cutting. If you are in a bulk phase and reach this point, you should consider ending your bulk and cuttingsoon.
If you’ve dieted down to this point, that’s fantastic. But if you wish to bulk, you should get leaner first. If you have been bulking and you’ve got to this point, you should stop bulking and switch to cutting.
