Martyna Majok (/ ˈ m aɪ oʊ k / MY-ohk) is a Polish-born American [1] [2] playwright who received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play Cost of Living. She emigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in New Jersey. Majok studied playwriting at the Yale School of Drama and Juilliard School.

Martyna Majok’s artistic road led her from Bytom’s industrial landscape to the Pulitzer Prize. She is a playwright of Polish descent with US citizenship. Her works tell of economical and class issues afflicting women, she also does not stray from autobiographical themes.
Martyna Majok was born in Bytom, Poland and raised in Jersey and Chicago. She was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her Broadway debut play, Cost of Living, which was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.
