Biography. Martin Behnke is an American composer and conductor. Following several years of teaching music in the California public schools and in colleges and universities in four other states, Martin Behnke came to Willamette University in 1979 as Director of University Bands, later serving as chairman of the Department of Music as well.
All of my life I have had more than a casual interest in composition, and was accepted as a composition major at San Jose State University - where both Robert Aichelle and Lou Harrison were on the composition faculty - for my Master's Degree, though I ultimately decided to go in other directions.

Martin Behnke was born 1978 in East-Berlin. He studied Drama Studies and English at the University of Leipzig and Screen-Writing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. Together with director Burhan Qurbani he wrote the screenplay for WE ARE YOUNG.
