photo by Charles Barnes. Martha Kelly grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, got a B.A. in studio art and religion at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and has made her lifelong home in Memphis. She has shown in galleries across the Southeast since her first solo show in 1999.

Our collection of Jack the Ripper Photos is intended to provide an insight into the area as it was at the time of the Whitechapel Murders. You can view the murder sites and other locations as they were at the time of the killings and as they are today. The Jack the Ripper Photo archive shows you the places, people and buildings that played an integral part of the story of the 1888 Whitechapel Murders and, as such, provides you with an insight into the area where the killings occurred.
The photo archive is divided into several sections each of which will deal with a separate aspect of the case. So, for example, the Mary Nichols section displays photographs of locations associated with Jack the Ripper's first victim. The Annie Chapman album will display photos connected with the second Jack the Ripper victim - and so on and so for...

The works displayed here serve as reflections, or imprints, of time spent in nature where Kelly found rest from the tumult of the modern world. The images possess a quiet, peaceful quality which draws the viewer into a particular moment. Yet, these glimpses into Kelly’s world are not stationary.
We are very pleased to feature the work of Martha Kelly, a potter who has operated her studio in Patagonia since 1981, in our current “Art + History” exhibit. Martha was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York which is a long way from Patagonia.
