Fiction. edit data. Mark Dintenfass was born in Brooklyn and graduated from Columbia University, from which he also received an M.A. in Drama. With his wife, Phyllis, he joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to Ethiopia, where he taught English at Haile Selassie University in Addis Ababa.
His novels are known for their New York settings. His 1982 work Old World, New World was a literary Guild Alternate Selection and came within a few thousand copies of creeping on to the New York Times best-seller list.
