1) PS1 version, playable on PS1, PS2, or PS3. This is the original release of the game. Alternatively you can opt for the Essential Collection, Legacy Collection, or PSN Classic releases. It's the way the game was meant to be played, and is easily available. 2) PS1 version, emulated.
Master Collection is probably the best way. MGS2 and 3 fully support modern controllers. PS2 and 3 versions used the pressure sensitive face buttons of those controllers so you would have some problems emulating. MGS1 might be better emulated if you want better resolution.
Jul 23, 2019 · Ac!d 1 & 2 are non-canon, and are set after the events of MGS4 (which makes no sense in the continuity). Metal Gear 1 & 2 on the NES/MSX don't add too much to the overall universe, but are what MGS5 is attempting (and failing) to connect to, and are referenced often enough in MGS games.
Master collection runs on ps5 and pc and has mgs1. Hd collection runs on ps3 and pc emulator and has peace walker. Take your pick from there. Personally I prefer master collection. HD Collection's pressure sensitivity is kinda wonky compared to PS2 anyways.
