While I prefer FMA:B they are too different to say one is overall better. To me FMA:B had a more focused purpose to its writing (characters, plot, focus) while HxH was the more intriguing (more strategic fighting, wacky/extreme characters, larger world, more complicated fighting system, etc). TLDR: Two completely different stories, both are must watches and masterpieces that are worth your time. I recommend watching Fullmetal Alchemist first and then watching Brotherhood (preferably with a break in between) but really they are fine in any order.
FMAB heavily abridges my second favorite volume of the series (15) and of also noticeably skims a lot of content in the first 30 chapters, but it also elevates a lot of my favorite moments so it's very close for me. People voting for Brotherhood haven't read the manga.
