When the Eastern mermaid Weilan frees one of Ondina's little mermaid students from a net, Ondina and Weilan clash. But a greater threat to their peace has arrived, in the form of a fearsome Chinese water dragon that once destroyed the Eastern pod.
Veridia gives Ondina a special job befitting her talents - teaching the pod's little mermaids, one of whom goes off on her own and gets into trouble. Weilan, a mermaid from Shanghai, joins the pod.
