Based in Connemara, Co Galway, we have worked to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome several thousand unwanted, abandoned and neglected dogs across the west coast of Ireland and beyond since 2005. We are an Irish registered charity and our charity number is 20072698.

Mar 8, 2021 · A “huge surge” of dogs being returned to shelters post-pandemic is expected, according to Director of Operations at MADRA, Dawn Divilly. With people spending more time at home during consecutive lockdowns over the past year, there has been a spike in popularity of “pandemic puppies”.
We are dedicated to finding new homes for unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned dogs. MADRA actively searches for permanent, quality homes for our dogs through advertisements in local newspapers, veterinary clinics, pet shops, and special events that provide exposure.
