(JTA) — Louis (Lou) Lenart, an American fighter pilot hailed as “The Man Who Saved Tel Aviv” during the opening days of Israel’s War of Independence, has died. Lenart died Monday at his home in Raanana, Israel, of heart and kidney failure.
