Duets are a feature that debuted in Just Dance 2. They have returned in all of the following games ever since.
Duets were introduced in Just Dance 2. In this game, pictograms for Duets are shown individually and slide in from opposite sides, with the lyrics being displayed in between. The left dancer’s pictograms come in from the left, while the right dancer’s pictograms come in from the right. However, the right dancer’s pictograms are only displayed if there are two or more people playing. Gold Move pictograms are colored golden like in Solo routines. Players cannot choose the coach that they want to follow in this game; P1 and P3 follow the left dancer, while P2 and P4 follow the right dancer.
The song selection menu can be configured to only show Duets. Additionally, there is also a feature called Duet Medley, in which the game allows players to play a limited number of random Duets by switching between them halfway through.
Duets in Dance on Broadway are exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Similarly to Just Dance 2, pictograms for P1 enter from the left side, whereas pictograms for P2 enter from the right. Unlike Just Dance 2, pictograms are depicted in circles which move towards larger gray circle found under the individual starbars and scoring feedback, disappearing with a fade effect. All pictograms are colored black with a white outline and feature white arrows. Although, this game did not feature any Gold Moves. Additionally, Dance on Broadway is the first game to allow players to choose their desire dancer, a feature that would later be adopted into the main series through Just Dance 3.

Duets in Michael Jackson: The Experience function similarly to those in Dance on Broadway, the pictograms are still black and white, though feature a cyan glove on the Wii version and a magenta glove on the PS3's version pictograms. They remain separated by player and are found on the left and right sides of the screen, moving from the bottom to the top. On the Wii version of the game, the sides of the screen have a transparent, rounded, gray overlay in which the pictograms move outside of. The PS3 version of the game has an opaque version of the overlay, with the pictograms being found inside of the gray curved bars.

Duets return in Just Dance 3 with several changes made to them. Pictograms for both players are now combined into one sprite and, like in Solo routines, they all come in from the right side of the screen. For pictograms with arrows, the arrow color is now the same as the pictogram color. For Gold Moves, the pictograms now keep their original color, but are surrounded by a golden glow. Additionally, players can choose their desired dancer in a specific screen that gets displayed before starting the routine. This is the first game in the main series to have a coach selection screen, though, the feature was first introduced in Dance on Broadway.
Duet Medley returned with the same mechanics as its predecessor. Duet Mashups were also added to the game alongside Solo Mashups.

Hi, I have a ps4 and just got just dance 2019 for my kiddo. I have a set of ps move controllers from my ps3 she is using. I cannot figure out how to use the second move controller to add a second dancer so I can dance with her. Is it possible? Or do I need a second complete set of controllers?
