Lon Morris College (LMC) was a private junior college located in Jacksonville, Texas, United States, and was the only school affiliated with the United Methodist Church that was owned by an individual conference and not the denomination as a whole.

After attaining state accreditation in 1915-16, the school began, in 1919, to advertise itself as the oldest junior college in East Texas. In 1924 it took the name Lon Morris College to honor financial benefactor Alonzo Morris.

In 1873, the school was located in Kilgore, Texas, and called the Alexander Institute. The school was moved to Jacksonville in 1894, a more central location for the Methodist Conference, and was called the Alexander Collegiate Institute.
Histories and journals of the period, records and publications of the school and other institutions, and oral interviews of persons involved in its development provide data for the study. As a historical analysis, the study is divided according to successive periods in the school's development.
Mar 17, 2018 · Hundreds of schools were established in East Texas before the Civil War. Lon Morris College outlasted them all until it closed its doors in 2012. The college had its beginnings in the early 1850s, as a Masonic School located in the community of New Danville, in Rusk County.
