Feb 1, 2023 · Lisa Grossman’s aptly titled “Rivering” assembles entrancing oil and acrylic paintings in her sixth exhibition at Haw Contemporary. The title refers to her two decades of adventures, explorations by kayak, on foot, by plane and drone, and study of the Kaw River’s 173-mile span.
Grossman has served as an 8-time artist-in-resident in the national parks. She is represented by Haw/Contemporary in Kansas City, Missouri, and SNW Gallery, in Manhattan, Kansas.
Jun 6, 2024 · Grossman had a solo show featuring a variety of new oil paintings that opened August 19, and ran through October 7, 2023. Feb 27, 2023 · The show is now on at the Haw Contemporary gallery in the West Bottoms of Kansas City and runs through March 8. Grossman has been painting the river for a long time, often from aerial views, showing its sinuous, shimmering surface disappearing in the distance.
Nov 1, 2018 · Avidly collected, Grossman’s paintings grace Kansas City homes as well as corporate offices, boardrooms, and even the headquarters of the Kansas City Chiefs. To do the latest series of river paintings, Grossman flew in a private plane and took photos and videos of the Kansas River below.
Lisa Grossman is one of two artists that will be having a solo show in one of the galleries of the museum. Lisa, who is a resident of Lawrence Kansas, received her Associates Degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1988 and finished with her B.F.A. in painting at the University of Kansas.
