Open since 1965, the Muscatine Art Center is many things to the community of Muscatine. Part historic house, part art gallery, and part history museum, the people of Muscatine have made 1314 Mulberry Ave. a gathering place for celebrating the area’s history and culture.
Many do not know the deep artistic history in Iowa with roots in Muscatine, but the Art Center will bring you up to speed with a wonderful long-standing permanent collection and rotating temporary exhibits of local (and not so-local) artists, often containing pieces for sale.
The adjoining Stanley Gallery hosts national, traveling art exhibitions. The Muscatine Art Center is one of only 1,070 museums nationwide accredited by the American Association of Museums.
