- Limoges train station (Gare de Limoges) This might seem odd but the train station has to be one of the must-see places to visit in Limoges. If you’re arriving or leaving by train you’ll get to see the ‘Gare de Limoges’ or if you’re doing a day trip from the city, like the trip I did to nearby Aixe sur Vienne.
- Picnic in Champ de Juliet. This is a beautiful park in the city centre and it is close to the train station, it’s literally across the road. It’s a relatively small park so it won’t take long to walk around.
- Limoges Cathedral (Cathedral St Etienne) A prominent feature in any city and Limoges doesn’t disappoint. This beautiful cathedral is situated in the middle of Limoges smaller historic district, known as Quartier Historic de la Cite (there are actually two).
- Botanique Garden, L’Eveche Gardens and city views. Situated behind Limoges Cathedral the Botanique Gardens are tucked out of the way. But be sure to add it on your list of things to do.
- Limoges Cathedral. Started in 1273, the Limoges Cathedral truly is a cathedral spanning the ages – it wasn’t finished until 1888! This grand building still has some medieval features and paintings, as well as an intricate rood loft from the Renaissance period.
- Limoges Fine Arts Museum. Right next to the Limoges Cathedral is the Limoges Fine Arts Museum. With a fine collection of ancient Egyptian pieces, as well as many fine nods to Limoges Gallo-Roman history, this museum is a good option if the weather isn’t in your favour.
- Jardins de l’Evêché. On sunny days, a stroll around the delightful Botanic Gardens of l’Evêché is a must. Sitting between the cathedral and the river, the gardens offer a great spot for lunch.
- The Adrien Dubouché National Museum – Limoges. This museum focusses on the history of Porcelain and decorative arts in Limoges. In the early 1800s, Limoges became the main centre for French porcelain, as it was nearby the clay mines that produced the raw materials.
