I had oranges and apples in the house and couldn't find a recipe that used them both so I created this one. This is a great side-dish for a holiday gathering or would even be good as a dessert over French vanilla ice cream -- or even better if you cook this the night before and heat it up before serving. Enjoy!
5 apples - peeled, cored and diced
4 oranges, peeled and diced
¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¾ cup coarsely crushed buttery round crackers
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large bowl, toss together the apples, oranges, brown sugar, Cheddar cheese, and walnuts. Spread evenly in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle crushed crackers evenly over the fruit.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and whisk in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and baking powder. Drizzle over the crackers, then drizzle the creamer over the casserole. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil.
Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven. Remove from the oven and uncover. Stir gently to fold in the crust.

Made this for Thanksgiving with a few changes--used Splenda instead of sugar and only used the zest of the orange--by far the best homemade cranberry sauce we've ever had! The cranberry lovers in my family say thanks for a great recipe!

Oct 31, 2023 · Tart cranberries, crisp apples, and citrusy orange are pulsed together for a bright, vibrant, flavorful relish, then a little sugar is added to play up the sweetness of the fruits. A pinch of cinnamon ties the dish together with warm, autumnal flavor. There’s zero cooking here!
Instructions: Combine the apples, orange juice and brown sugar in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium, and partially cover with a lid. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often until the apples begin to soften and thicken. Reduce the heat to low, stir in ¼ cup of water, the cinnamon and the orange zest.
