Leo Lesser Ury (November 7, 1861 – October 18, 1931) was a German impressionist painter and printmaker, associated with the Düsseldorf school of painting. Life and career. Ury was born on November 7, 1861, in Birnbaum [1] in what was then the Kingdom of Prussia (now Międzychód in Poland).

Lesser Ury (1861-1932)- was a German impressionist painter who followed his own style and is perhaps most well known for his skills with pastels.
In 1914, he began working extensively in the graphic medium. Under the encouragement of Lovis Corinth (q.v.), Ury had his first exhibition with the Berlin Secession in 1915. In 1916, Paul Cassirer (q.v.) held a successful retrospective; 1921, he became an honorary member of the Berlin Secession; died 1931.
Lesser Ury (1861-1931) settled in Berlin in 1887, after many years traveling and studying all over Europe. His initial friendship with Max Liebermann turned into bitter hostility that was to last for the better part of their lives.
