Last Exit is thoughtful, action-packed, terrifying, and hopeful all at once, and has true, complicated friendships, found family, and queer love at its core. It’s an epic story with a complex, believable cast that asks the reader what it would truly take to find a world that’s better than our own.
Mar 30, 2022 · The characters in Max Gladstone’s Last Exit found a way to change the world, tried to make it better, and only made it worse. Using some very handwavy math, a group of college friends figured out how to slide between alternate realities, and picked up some essentially magic skills as they did so.
Feb 16, 2022 · It’s an intense pedal-to-the-metal roadtrip action novel through hells both exterior and interior; a quietly contemplative, introspective, philosophical, tale; a love story; a coming-of-age story, a biting work of political and social criticism. One might even say Last Exit contains multitudes. And all of them good.
