Her feature directorial debut THE SUBJECT, starring Jason Biggs and Aunjanue Ellis, won over 21 awards on the festival circuit, including Best Film at the Catalina Film Festival, Stony Brook Film Festival and the Lighthouse International film Festival.
Lanie was the co-founder and producing director of Voices Inside/Out, a playwriting exchange program at a Kentucky prison. Participating actors included Michael Shannon, Michael Chernus, Ashlie Atkinson, Teddy Sears, Ron Canada and more. She produced PEN America's Prison Justice Awards in 2020.
