Dec 1, 2020 · The Lakeside High School Sports Hall of Fame will induct 36 members into their third class in a ceremony at the school on April 17. The school, now 56 years old, won 26 team state championships in the 1970’s and produced some of the best athletes ever to come out of Dekalb County.

The class also includes Lakeside’s first-ever football coach in Norm Olsen, who came to the school in 1966. Olsen left after the 1969 season but turned over a team that won the state championship in 1970 under Wayman Creel.

Feb 2, 2024 · The Lakeside High School Sports Hall of Fame will celebrate its sixth annual class of inductees on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. Former Viking legends across all sports will be represented in the Class of 2024 and this year will also honor the 1972 Football State Champions as the first team inducted into the Hall.
Mar 11, 2019 · The school, which opened in 1964 and won 26 team state championships in the 1970’s, will honor the inductees at an April 27 ceremony and dinner at Lakeside. The evening is open to the public and there will be a red carpet walk and coat, medallion and plaque ceremony.
