Laith Al-Majali is a Jordanian photographer and film editor. He produced and edited the Sundance Audience Award winner Captain Abu Raed (2008) and co-produced the Academy Award nominated Theeb (2016). His latest work as an editor was on Netflix’s thriller “Naga”, which premiered at TIFF’s “Midnight Madness” section in 2023.

LAITH MAJALI: But Hi Jolly is how I ended up with this story, because one of the theories out there, is that Hi Jolly is a bedouin from potentially the south of Jordan, which is where I’m from. And I’m exploring that theory with some people in the region too.
Meanwhile, at the airport and on the bus home, Abu Raed gets to know Nour, a female pilot whose wealthy father repeatedly attempts to find her a husband. During a friendly visit to his home, he tells her about his past, including a deceased wife and son, Raed.
