Karasu and Washi, better known together as The Sisters, are the secondary antagonists of the 2016 stop-motion film Kubo and the Two Strings. They are the wicked twin aunts of Kubo and the younger sisters of Satiaru who work under their father, The Moon King.
Plot. In feudal Japan, a 12-year-old boy with only one eye named Kubo tends to his ill mother in a mountain cave near a village. He earns their living by magically manipulating origami with music from his shamisen for the village folk, telling the tale of his missing father Hanzo, a samurai warrior.
But one night, Kubo overindulges his gift for storytelling in the village and is left stranded. He is captured by his witch-like aunts, The Moon King’s minions. In a desperate act, Kubo’s mother manages one last piece of magic and transports Kubo to a wintry wilderness.
