John Barry was replaced on the sequel by German composer Konrad Elfers, and the music for Funeral in Berlin is a lot less subtle, with more jaunty, oompah-type music. Presumably, the intention was to give the film more of a German flavour to match its principal setting.
Konrad Elfers was born on 25 October 1919. He was a composer and actor, known for A Bad Moms Christmas (2017), Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler (1922) and The Coldest Game (2019). He died on 22 September 1996.

German pianist/composer Konrad Elfers supplies sometimes intense, sometimes brooding score which anchors with memorable funeral march heard in many guises: brass-led, robust, subtle, dissonant, imposing. In contrast, beautiful love theme plays courtesy piano, strings, solo sax.
