It was adapted into an anime film directed by Keiichi Hara, that was released in 2015. [ 1 ] The series is set in the Edo period and covers the careers of the painter Tetsuzo (Hokusai) and his daughter O-Ei from 1814 to O-Ei's mysterious disappearance in 1857.
It is the final film in the series to use traditional cel animation, and the last film to be written and directed by frequent director and animator of the saga Keiichi Hara. The film was produced by Shin-Ei Animation , the studio behind the anime television.
