Until recently I plugged both cables into the treble inputs and then jumper cables to the bass inputs.

   May 27, 2016 · A few days ago I started thinking of replacing the supplied jumper plates with small runs of 4tc cable. This because I did experience the sonic improvement of bi-wire connection with my previous setup.

   • The plated jumpers get you by just like cheap electrolytic caps and block resistors. However, all those can easily be improved upon, just a matter of mo' money. The higher up the ladder you go you'll find real jumpers on those speakers along with better crossover components. My jumpers are the same as my speaker cables.

   What if a speaker has two terminals?

   • If the two terminals are just to allow wto different cable types to be used on a speaker - then the internal wiring connects the two red together and the two black together. The extra plate or jumpers - which is probably 2 inches long - how would this make a difference ?.

   • The idea of replacing the stock brass jumpers with actual cable jumpers also seemed worth a try from people that have done so. I picked the Kimber 8TC jumpers, same material as the 12TC cables but a lesser gauge appropriate for the short length between the terminals.

   • dunkyboy, John Moschella and F1nut like this. The jumper wires put four more potential resistive connections in the signal path. In theory, this would be worse than the supplied brass plates. The difference in resistance between gold plated brass and copper is negligible (laughable) at these lengths.

   Are Kimber 8PR cables any good?

   • Bass is about equal as are dynamics. The Kimber 8PR are excellent cables regardless of price. Going back to them after hearing what the 12TC and jumpers can do is not an option, the sound is duller and too rounded by comparison. For reference the cable jumpers do have an impact too, the contribution seems about equal compared to the brass jumpers.
