Sep 11, 2011 · Koch paints beautifully refined and wonderfully tactile still life subjects, with lost and found edges heightening the sense of depth evoked by his use of chiaroscuro. His carefully controlled palette and subtle manipulation of light carry echoes of the 17th Century Dutch still life masters.

Jonathan Koch American (b. 1971) He engaged in formal studies at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California from 1989-1992 and at the Rhode Island School of Design from 1992-1994, but in the artist’s words: “nature continues to serve as both my instructor and my greatest inspiration”.
