Apr 20, 2023 · LONDON, Ky. — A former Clarksville, Tenn., physician, John Stanton, 51, was sentenced on Thursday, April 13, to 120 months in federal prison, by U.S. District Judge Robert Wier, following his conviction for conspiring to unlawfully distribute controlled substances.
Dr. John Stanton joined CenterWell as a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine. Dr. Stanton completed his family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, earning his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean.

There are two others charged in the case: John L. Stanton, who worked as medical director at the Clarksville clinic and allegedly took part in the scheme to illegally write prescriptions, and Jeffrey L. Ghent, who allegedly sold drugs in Clay County.
