The beginnings of Chambliss Center for Children can be traced all the way back to 1872 when a group of local church women known as the Women's Christian Association started a food and clothing pantry for orphaned girls.

Chambliss Center for Children provides early childhood education and care programs for the children of teachers in 12 Hamilton County Schools*. This program has helped reduce turnover rates for new teachers from 49% to under 10% in the schools where our classrooms are located.

Oct 15, 2021 · When it first opened in 1872, the Chambliss Center for Children was a home for orphaned kids, later becoming a space for children transitioning into foster care. In the 1970s, it opened the area’s first 24-hour daycare as working mothers entered the labor force in larger numbers.
