In Year 8, students develop their whole-class ensemble skills, progressing to taking responsibility for smaller band rehearsals in a practice space. Students are introduced to TAB for guitar, bass, and ukulele, equipping them with the tools and skills to continue making music outside of school by researching their own songs and chords.
There are two specific works that are studied: Symphony No 104 in D major, ‘London’ by Haydn and Symphony No 4 in A major, ‘Italian’ by Mendelssohn. This is a whole community production, mainly the work of students from across Ross’s schools with several members of St Mary’s Youth Choir are taking part.
