Cleveland State University College of Law is the law school of Cleveland State University, a public research university in Cleveland, Ohio. It traces its origins to Cleveland Law School, founded in 1897, which merged in 1946 with the John Marshall School of Law to become Cleveland-Marshall Law School and was absorbed by the university in 1969. [2]
While the CSU College of Law has been a part of Cleveland State University since 1969, its history as a Cleveland-area law school dates back to the late nineteenth century. In 1897, Cleveland Law School was established, becoming Ohio's first evening law school.
Cleveland State University College of Law is the direct descendant of two proprietary night law schools: the Cleveland Law School, founded in 1897, and the John Marshall School of Law, founded in 1916. In 1946, the two schools merged to become Cleveland-Marshall Law School.
Mar 20, 2020 · Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law rose 24 places in the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Law School rankings, placing 102nd among all law schools in the country and fourth in the state of Ohio.
