John is originally from Iowa but moved to California for college and attended Stanford where he received his degree in math and economics. He also serves on the board of directors for the Center for Election Science. His wife Susan also works at Meta, and they have three young children.

Feb 9, 2015 · He married Miss Evelyn Lyon, and his son, John Rogers Hegeman, Jr., married, October 22, 1895, Elizabeth, daughter of Barak Guitman Coles. John R., Jr., was in 1898 a captain in the One Hundredth Regiment of New York Volunteers in the war against Spain.
