Jan 14, 2017 · Presented to coincide with Black History Month in February 2017, his acclaimed film The Last Angel of History (1996) introduces audiences to the “data thief,” a mysterious figure who travels through space and time in search of a key to the future of black culture.
In May 2019, Akomfrah participated in the inaugural, critically acclaimed Ghana Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, with his latest work Four Nocturnes. In 2017 Akomfrah was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to art and film making in The Queen’s Birthday Honours.
