He brought a new energy to the stooges. And the fact that they had to shoot all new footage with Joe (with few exceptions) brought a new freshness and energy to the stooges. And forgive me, Curly Joe fans, but Joe Besser was WAY better than Curly Joe any day. I wish Besser stayed with them through their film years of the early 1960s.
